Vicki Tan is a staff designer at Pinterest, the inspiration platform where people can come to create a life they love. She is the design lead for Closeup, the most viewed surface in the product. Her work involves creating a forward-facing vision for Closeup, give Pinners a seamless way to evaluate, refine, and act on everything they come to Pinterest for, while also managing "Closeup as a Platform," balancing our long-term goals with the needs of many cross-functional teams collaborating to build features on Closeup.
The Long View
A metaphysical design framework to help us design better possible past, present, and futures that create the human experience we want, for all time. Vicki applies this perspective to examples from her work at Spotify and Headspace to illustrate how it can lead to more intentional, balanced product decisions. Embracing the expansive “long view” can ultimately help designers create technology that aligns with our desired human experience.
