Edith Pritchett

Cartoonist

Edith is a London-based cartoonist. Her autobiographical cartoon strip ‘Millennial life’ has been running weekly in the Guardian for three years. In it she’s covered subjects such as insufficiently supportive sports bras, fake tanning, and being hungover at work. She also has a weekly topical cartoon for the Washington Post in which she takes a playful look at contemporary culture- how dating apps are sabotaging you, what happens behind the scenes on ‘Emily in Paris’ or Dolce & Gabbana’s new perfume for dogs.

Finding humor in the mundane

Edith will talk about making autobiographical work and finding humor in the mundane. Also how being honest about the more embarrassing parts of your life can often generate responses that make you realize we’re all more similar than we think. The talk will cover many of her internal conflicts that she’s shamelessly mined to generate content. Struggles such as: ‘I hate that fleece my partner wears,’ ‘will my feet scare the pedicurist?’ And ‘I got tricked on instagram into spending £50 on shampoo’ as well as many more of life’s big topics.
